Project Intent
Through the assigned object of pinus resinosa, a red pinecone, I was tasked with designing a book that uses denotative and connotative meaning to communicate a social issue of my choosing: ageing populations. Using experimentation, exploration, and iterative making processes, I explored the value of making as a form of design research.
The project underwent two main stages:
The observation stage involved generating visual form in any medium possible. Photographing, drawing, painting, print making, and more.
The making stage required compositing the visual form generated in the previous step into thoughtful and researched page layouts the have the ability to 'speak' once arranged in a temporal form to communicate the intended subject.
All drawings, photographs, and textures are my own.
