Project Intent
I was tasked with creating an ink illustration for an Earth Day poster that combines motifs of leaves, flowers, human figure, and a bird in flight. On top of that, to integrate physical soil into the mixed media piece.
The result is a poster in which the composition of the required motifs is intended to communicate dualistic meaning that are revealed when rotated 180 degrees. One version represents human's efforts to fight climate change with a hopeful message of a bird flying upwards. The other versions shows a grim fate with humans at fault for suffocating the bird as it slowly falls.
To accompany the ink and mixed media illustration, a simplified digital poster was created that kept the dual messaging.
